We are the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina Riptide, also known as TYDE. Our well-established swim team is dedicated to fostering excellence, teamwork, and personal growth in our athletes. Our mission is to create leaders both in and out of the pool. Our community is passionate about swimming, and we’re currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our coaching staff. The Associate Head Coach, under the supervision of the Director of Competitive Swimming, will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Senior programs, ensuring that all aspects of the program align with the YMCA’s mission, vision, and goals.

Responsibilities:
As a Full-Time Swimming Coach, you will play a crucial role in the success of our senior programs. Your leadership and dedication will directly impact our swimmers’ growth and performance.
Here are your key responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the senior programs (ages 13 and over).
Write workouts, attend practices, and provide coaching for assigned groups.
Supervise other senior programs across different branches.
biweekly Zoom meetings with coaches from various branches to discuss program and practice development for 13 and over.
Ensure smooth coordination and communication within the team.
Meet Participation:
Attend and coach all swim meets for your assigned groups.
Handle administrative tasks related to meet entries for your assigned groups.
Collaboration and Respect:
Work collaboratively and respectfully with fellow coaches, staff, and team leaders.
Always prioritize the best interests of the team and its members.
Code of Conduct:
Abide by the Y-USA Swimming and Diving, as well as USA Swimming Code of Conduct.
Set a positive example for swimmers and uphold ethical standards.
Community Engagement:
Act as an ambassador for our YMCA Competitive and Aquatics programs.
Promote TYDE and YMCA programs actively within the community.
Youth Clinics:
Organize and run clinics for younger swimmers to enhance their skills.
Foster a love for swimming among the next generation.
Coaches Meetings:
Attend all staff meetings to stay informed and contribute to program development.

Communication:
Prepare and distribute monthly newsletters to keep swimmers and parents informed.
Provide weekly updates on program activities.
Assist with Social Media

Fundraising:
Assist director of competition with team sponsorship and additional fundraiser

Team Calendar and Staff Schedule:
Maintain a team calendar with practice schedules, meets, and other events up to date.
To ensure adequate group coverage, keep the coaching staff schedule up to date, communicate, and make adjustments in case of absence.

Senior Trip Planning:
Plan and execute the annual senior trip, creating memorable experiences for our swimmers.

Software Experience:
Proficiency in using Team Unify, Meet Manager, Google Suite, Word, Excel, or other swimming software.
Utilize these tools effectively to manage team data, registrations, and meet logistics.

Requirements/Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of coaching experience is necessary.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Previous competitive swimming experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
A strong understanding of swimming techniques, strokes, and training principles is essential. Coaches need to analyze swimmers’ forms, correct errors, and optimize performance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
Member in good standing with USA Swimming and current on all certifications.
Must obtain USA coaching certification within 30 days of employment.
Reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License are required.

Must complete successful background screening, which includes criminal and drug screening
Starting no later than September 1st.

Schedule:
This position requires early morning and evening workouts, Admin duties between workouts, and weekend availability, with occasional travel for meets and events (average once a month)

Compensation:
Salary:$44,000 per year. Salary can be adjusted based on experience.
