Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving

Augustana University invites applications for an Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving. This is a 12-month position within our Athletic Department responsible for assisting with position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the sport program as well as possible additional responsibilities as assigned within the athletic department.

Major areas of responsibility:

• The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all phases of the swimming and diving program.
• Perform recruiting responsibilities as assigned by the head coach to meet the objectives of the university and team, including evaluation, contact, and establishing relationships with prospective student-athletes and coaches.
• Assist head coach in all day-to-day operations of the sport program.
• Coordinate student athlete activities including but not limited to recruiting, conditioning, and academic services as needed and designated by the head coach.
• Teach classes assigned by the department with professional integrity and university expectations. ESS teaching assignment will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
• Support, abide and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the university, athletics department and swimming and diving program to ensure academic progress of the student-athlete as directed by the head coach.
• Support and work cooperatively with the Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, Equipment, Student Development, NCAA Compliance, Media Relations, etc. areas in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Assist with administrative functions of the swimming and diving program as directed by the head coach. Perform duties with professional conduct, being fiscally responsible and with a commitment to student-athlete well-being.
• Abide by all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of Augustana University and the Department of Athletics. Understand and adhere to the Augustana Athletic Department Manual that outlines general staff conduct.
• Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with athletics, university staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders.
• Adhere to all NCAA and conference affiliated bylaws set forth by the governing bodies.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the head coach.
• Organizing summer camps and clinics.
• Organizing team travel.
• Assisting in revenue generating.
• Additional departmental duties as assigned.
• Assisting with all other components of a competitive NCAA Division II swimming & diving program.
• May be required to serve on committees and special projects.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Preference will be given to those with college coaching experience.
• Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Must be able to work varying hours which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Coached high school or collegiate swimming and diving.
• Has participated in a high school or collegiate swimming and diving program.
• Experience in recruiting qualified student-athletes.
