With the 2015 Duel In The Pool less than five months away, the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis and USA Swimming are beginning to release information about the event. The most recent announcement is that they will be adding temporary seating over the north end of the pool to make the natatorium feel more like an Arena.
The IUPUI Natatorium has a seating capacity of 4,700 making it the largest indoor pool in the United States. A false wall will be installed behind the starting end of the pool, as it was in 2013 for the World Championship Trials, and temporary seats will be installed over the turn end of the pool. The IUPUI competition pool is a 50m pool, but a bulkhead will be in position for the 25 SCM set up.
A USA Swimming representative told us they expect the total seating will be somewhere around 2,500, although USA Swimming is still working on the specific number of seats available to the public.
They expect to start making tickets available to the public sometime close to August 1st. As of today, tickets are only available to teams within the Indiana Swimming LSC. Indiana teams have until July 24th to submit their ticket orders, which are only for the temporary seating at the turn end of the pool.
USA Swimming is working with a new ticketing company, and they are trying to work through all the details before a public opening. Once the tickets are made available to the public, there will be three tiers of ticket pricing, and they expect the event to sell out.
USA Swimming is expected to post a press release that includes more information within the next few weeks.
