With just 9 days to go until the start of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, postponed from last year due to coronavirus, we now have a glimpse into the initial swimming entries for each nation.
We’ll be breaking down any surprises in separate posts, such as Canadian Taylor Ruck having dropped the 100m free.
But, you’re able to see any individual athlete’s entries as they stand today by visiting the official Tokyo Olympics website and searching on any given athlete here.
Comparing the overall entries on a global level between the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and today, the last edition saw 955 athletes representing 174 countries take part in the Games. Tokyo has grown to now 182 countries in total, with swimming-specific entries totalling 880.
The United States topped the overall swimming medal table in Rio, amassing a total of 33 medals including 16 gold. Australia and Hungary also made their mark 5 years ago, finishing in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
Mack Horton not offered or didnt take spot in the 800 free what a waste only swimming 200 free relay
He can’t swim both and he probably wouldn’t even final in the 800.
They have lydia jacoby as being born in 2008 hahaha
17 women entered in 200 fly….. and Lizzie Dekkers won’t be there 😭
Wow- that makes it easy to qualify for the semi-final …. in fact, do they need heats?
Olympic softball and football starts in 6 days….the games are almost here!
