Noah Cakir showed recently why he could be the next great contributor to “Breaststroke U.”

Committed to an Indiana program that put five swimmers in the ‘A’ final of the 100 breast at the Big Ten Championships, Cakir clocked a blazing personal-best time of 52.34 to win the 100 breast at the MR AP ASCSC Suffolk County Championships in New York.

Swimming for Team Suffolk Swim Club, Cakir produced the fastest time in the country among 17-year-olds this season and the sixth-fastest in the 17-18 age group. It was also the 23rd-fastest time ever in the 17-18 age group.

Cakir also added wins in the 100 free (45.03), 100 back (personal best 49.09) and 100 fly (48.30).

Cakir’s performance helped Team Suffolk earn 2nd-place finishes in both the boys’ and combined team standings.

Three Village Swim Club swept the girls’, boys’ and combined team titles.

Wait wait wait … They didn’t put 5 swimmers into the NCAA “A” final. That was Big Ten’s … Big difference 😅

forgot about him tbh. IU with an underrated trio now Cakir/Bey/Ellis. Still no sprint free ofc and nowhere near challenging texas and their NIL pockets for a national championship but this freshman class in general should start being impactful earlier because of 5th years finally winding down
