IMer Dalton Sousa Makes Verbal Commitment to Maine Black Bears

Dalton Sousa of Carver, Massachusetts has committed to swim for the University of Maine, class of 2022.

“I chose the University of Maine because it offered me the best of both worlds. I’m able to swim for a great team under great coaches. At the same time, it is allowing me to pursue my engineering degree.

I’m excited to be a Black Bear!”

Sousa is a senior at Carver Middle-High School and swims year-round for Cape Cod Swim Club. He specializes in IM but is equally comfortable in free, back, and fly. At the Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Championships this past summer he placed 4th in the 400 IM, 8th in the 200 IM, and 8th in the 200 fly. He also competed in the 50/200/400 free, and took home PBs in the 200 free and 200 fly. Two weeks earlier at the New England Swimming Senior Long Course Championships he had gone best times in the 100/400 free, 200 back, 100 fly, and 200 IM.

In short course season, he was a B finalist in the 400 IM at 2017 New England Age Group Championships, and he also competed in the 50/100/500 free, 200 fly, and 200 IM. The meet produced PBs in the 50/500 free, 200 fly, and 200/400 IM.
