The Illinois State swimming team set a pair of Lewis Pool records Saturday, as the Redbirds came out victorious in a double dual against Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis University, beating the Titans, 172-31, and the Flyers, 166-39.
Jensen Keck set a Lewis Pool record, finishing the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.36. Another Lewis Pool record was broken as the relay team of Maia Cain, Morgan Clark, Keck and Karley Licking, who finished the 200-yard medley relay with a winning time of 1:48.87.
Both Licking and Morgan Rosser helped lead the charge in the double-dual sweep, winning two individual events each, while four other Redbirds won one individual event each.
“I thought the team did very well,” ISU head swimming coach Scott Cameron said. “We were improved in a lot of areas from our meet last weekend, and the team attitude was great.”
Rosser earned first in both the 500- (5:16.83) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:42.62), while Licking was the fastest in both the 100-yard backstroke (59.45) and 200-yard freestyle (1:58.64). Keck finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.36), as Cain took the 100-yard butterfly (59.53). Clark touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.81), and Savannah Rubocki won the 200-yard IM (2:11.64).
The Redbirds also took first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:40.40. The team of Kari Balson, Rachel Holm, Alyssa Reinholz and Mary Katherine Tillotson made up the winning relay team.
The entire Redbird swimming and diving team will return to the water Oct. 28, facing off against Illinois and Southern Illinois in a double dual at Horton Pool.

Lewis University women’s swimming completed its first meet of the season Saturday (Oct. 7) in a dual meet against Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan.
Putting in a notable performance for the Flyers was freshman Eboni McCray () who took first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55.31. She also placed third in the 50 yard free with 25.28.
In the 200 yard medley relay the team of Meghan Beese (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South), Jackie Bower(Peoria, Ariz./Liberty), McCray, and Gabby Jeffers (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) came in third after finishing with a time of 1:51.23.
Lewis heads to Eastern Illinois on October 14 for the team’s next meet.
