New Jersey State Champion Ryann Styer Gives Verbal to Gamecocks

Longport, New Jersey-native Ryann Styer has announced her verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina for 2018-19. She will join fellow commits Emma Scheider, Halladay Kinsey, Mari Kraus, and Rachel Lee in the class of 2022.

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of South Carolina! I am so grateful to now be apart of such an amazing team and school! With an elite athletic program and a great academic reputation, South Carolina is the perfect fit for me. Very thankful for my coaches, family, and friends for helping me get here, I can’t wait to be a Gamecock!!”  [sic]

Styer is a senior at Ocean City High School, and the defending New Jersey state champion in 50 free. After placing 9th in the 50 free and 36th in the 100 free at the 2015 New Jersey State Tournament as a freshman, then 2nd and 14th in those same events as a sophomore, Styer won the 50 and finished 6th in the 100 in 2017. Over the course of her high school career she dropped 7/10 in the 50 and 3.7 seconds in the 100 to arrive at 23.16 and 51.71 as a junior.

Styer swims for Vineland Dolphins, where she specializes in sprint freestyle. Her older sister Noel swam her freshman season (2014-15) for the University of Tampa Spartans.
