South Carolina Receives Verbal from NCSA Champion Halladay Kinsey

Halladay Kinsey from the Davis Aquadarts Racing Team in Davis, CA, has verbally committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks beginning in 2018-19. She is a senior at Rio Americano High School.

Kinsey is the reigning 2017 CIF Sac-Joaquin 100 fly and 500 free champion, and she went on to finish 9th in the 100 fly at the 2017 CIF State Championship. Most recently, at the 2017 NCSA Championships earlier this month, Kinsey swam a 1:00.08 to win the NCSA 100m fly title.

TOP TIMES

  • 100y breast – 1:01.85
  • 200y breast – 2:11.56
  • 100y fly – 53.65
  • 200y fly – 1:57.89
  • 200y IM – 1:59.64
  • 400y IM – 4:14.93
  • 200y free – 1:49.49

Kinsey is very versatile, and she’s a big get for South Carolina. She would’ve made 2017 SEC B-finals in the 200 fly, 100 breast, and 200 breast as well as C-finals in both IM’s and the 100 fly. She’ll get to Columbia, SC just after their top breaststroker Kersten Dirrane, graduates, and Kinsey will be a big boost to their butterfly group that only had one scorer in the 100 fly C final and one in the 200 fly B final.

DART teammate Emma Barksdale, who has progressed rapidly since getting to USC and has become a great IM’er, will be a senior when Kinsey gets to campus.
