Houston Hosts Quad Meet This Weekend

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team returns to action this weekend to host Rice, Tulane and LSU on Jan. 29 & 30, at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.

This weekend’s meet will also serve as Senior Day for the Cougars. The team will honor its five seniors, Holly Criscuolo, Doroteja Bednjanec, Taylor Derevyanik, Maya Owens and Danielle Shedd, before Saturday’s events get underway.

The two-day meet kicks off on Friday, Jan. 29 at 5:00 p.m. The meet continues on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with the Senior Day ceremony leading off the day.

Friday’s events beginning at 5 p.m.: 200 Medley Relay, 1000 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Back, 200 Breast, 200 Free, 1M Diving, 50 Free, 200 IM and 400 Free Relay

Saturday’s events beginning at 10 a.m.: 400 Medley Relay, 500 Free, 100 Breast, 200 Back, 3M Diving, 200 Fly, 100 Free, 400 IM, 200 Free Relay

The Cougars swept conference weekly awards Tuesday, freshman swimmer Delia Weber earned her first honor and sophomore swimmer Micaela Bouter for the fourth time this season after their performance at No. 24 Arkansas’ Quad Meet. As a team, the Cougars grabbed 12 podium finishes, including the Houston divers sweeping the boards events.

UP NEXT

Houston will host the American Athletic Conference Championships for the first time as the best swimmers and divers in the league visit the CRWC on Feb. 17-20. All-session tickets can be purchased up until the start of competition (Feb. 17) for $33 each. All-session tickets for college students, senior citizens and those 18 or younger are $18 each. Tickets are available throughTicketmaster. Following the conference meet, the Cougars will look to close the season at the NCAA Championships to be heldMarch 17-19 in Atlanta.
