KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – With a slate that includes four regular-season home meets as well as UT hosting the 2022 SEC Championships, director of swimming and diving Matt Kredich announced Tennessee’s 2021-22 schedule Tuesday.
There will be no shortage of opportunities to watch the Vols and Lady Vols compete at home this year. In addition to hosting dual meets against Louisville (Oct. 21) and Carson-Newman (Jan. 29) at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, UT will welcome some of the nation’s top programs for the annual Tennessee Invitational on Nov. 18-20. After a trip to the Auburn Diving Invitational (Dec. 14-16), the Vols and Lady Vols will compete in the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Jan. 3-6.
On Feb. 15-19, Knoxville will be the center of one of the top meets in the country, as Tennessee has the privilege of hosting the 2022 SEC Championships, which will feature some of the top teams in the nation led by Olympians and world-class swimmers and divers. UT last hosted the SEC Championships in 2017.
Tennessee boasts a busy road slate as well. The Vols and Lady Vols open the campaign with a weekend trip to UNC Wilmington for a dual meet (Oct. 1) as well as an open water race (Oct. 2). Two weeks later, UT returns to North Carolina for a meet at NC State on Oct. 15-16. Other road trips include meets at Kentucky (Nov. 5), a double dual against Queens University and Duke in Durham (Jan. 8), a women’s only meet at Vanderbilt (Jan. 20) and then rounded out with a trip to Georgia (Jan. 22).
After capping the road schedule against the Bulldogs, Tennessee will head home for its final dual meet of the regular season against Carson Newman, which will be Senior Day for the Vols and Lady Vols.
After the SEC Championships, Tennessee will turn its focus to the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, beginning with its Last Chance Meet (Feb. 26-27). NCAAs begin with the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships (March 8-10), followed by the NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships (March 16-19) and concluding with the Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (March 23-26).
UT swimmers and divers who don’t qualify for NCAAs will have the opportunity to compete in the CSCAA National Invitational Championships in Elkhart, Indiana, on March 10-12.

Kredich enters his 17th season on Rocky Top and 10th leading both the men’s and women’s programs. With plenty of excitement heading into the new campaign, the Lady Vols will look to continue their success from recent years with several key returners being joined by one of the nation’s top 2021 signing classes that features seven top-45 swimmers, including three inside the top 10. The Vols return the majority of last season’s squad, which finished third at the SEC Championships. The roster is highlighted by Olympians Lyubomir Epitropov and Michael Houlie as well as SEC champion diver Bryden Hattie.
