The lead-change trend continued as Iowa captured additional event wins, including a new pool record set by Iowa’s Kelsey Drake (1:57.87) in the 200 fly.
Thorson’s finish in the 100 breast broke her previous personal record she set last year against the Hawkeyes. Lucia Rizzo also set two new personal bests in the 100 (55.48) and 200 fly (2:02.08) with her second-place finishes.

Iowa State accumulated two additional Zone cuts in one-meter diving. Liva placed third with 279.45 and Schlossmacher Smith came in fourth with 269.00, bringing the season total to 15 Zone diving qualifying scores.
Iowa held on to their lead throughout the remainder of the dual. With all events taken into account, Iowa State accumulated seven season-best times.
“I thought out team really competed hard today,” said head coach Duane Sorenson. “We had a lot of outstanding swims and a number of personal bests were turned in. Iowa is just a little bit stronger on the last length and the number of races. I thought we really took them on and raced the hardest we could today. We’ve got things to work on but it was a good way to end the first semester.”
ON DECK- Winter Training Trip/Tennessee Diving Invite
