Caroline Irwin, a current high school senior from Buford, Georgia, has committed to swim for the United States Naval Academy. Irwin will graduate from Buford High School in spring 2021 and join the school’s class of 2025, pending receipt of her appointment.
Irwin is a current year-round swimmer for Swim Atlanta (Lawrenceville). Earlier this year, she was the 2020 GHSA 1-5A State Champion in the 50 freestyle (23.79) and runner-up in the 100 butterfly (55.95). Overall, Irwin has been a finalist at the Georgia State Championships six times.
In addition, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American has multiple Junior National cuts. Most recently at the Speedo Winter Jr. Nationals-East, Irwin placed 8th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:00.84.

Irwin, whose primary events are butterfly, will add a lot of depth to the team once she begins her collegiate career with Navy.
This year at the 2020 Patriot Swimming and Diving Championships with Navy, Irwin would have placed 8th in the 100 butterfly (54.76) and 6th in the 200 butterfly (2:00.50) with her current best times.
At the ECAC Championships, Irwin would have been champion in the 100 butterfly with her current best time of 54.76. She also would have placed 2nd in the 200 butterfly (2:00.50) and 5th in the 200 backstroke (2:02.51).

At the Patriot Championships this year, the Navy women were the champions by nearly 4oo points. Due to the number of titles they won, the team set a Patriot League record.
In addition, Navy placed 1st as a team for the fourth time in their program history at the ECAC Championships. Not only were they the victors, they also swept every title in the meet.
