STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern swim team placed first in every event during Saturday’s meet against North Florida to come away with a 193-69 victory over the Ospreys.
“The University of North Florida continues to serve as solid competition for our student-athletes to book-end the season – this weekend included,” said head coach Allyson Sweeney. “As a program, we speak a lot about staying committed to the process as defined by our seasonal goals at the beginning of the year… The women’s performances from this past weekend are a testament to that commitment, especially as we start to turn our sights towards the Sun Belt Conference championships beginning in the next two & a half weeks.”
Action started in the 400 Yard Medley Relay where the team of Emma Scruggs, Ieva Evaltaite, Madlen Wendland, and Chiara Alberti placed first with a time of 3:56.07. In the second event of the day, Zuri Clavo finished the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:35.33, 15 seconds ahead of the second place Montgomery Dampier, who finished 10 seconds ahead of the third place finisher from UNF to collect 13 total points in that event. Alberti (1:54.12), Jamison Tiller (1:54.82), and Carsyn Cosman (1:57.34) finished top three in the 200 Yard Freestyle to continue the Eagles winning ways through three events.
Scruggs (58.43) and Lilly Kasra (1:02.47) took first and second in the 100 Yard Backstroke, Evaltaite (1:05.90) and Belanger (1:07.14) took the top two spots in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, and Hannah Merrill (2:08.66) took first in the 200 Yard Butterfly to continue the dominance from Georgia Southern.
Abby Wenham (24.70) and Emma Sutton (24.91) took the top two spots in the 50 yard Freestyle and Alberti (52.56) and Tiller (53.87) took the top two spots in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Scruggs (2:04.94) finished on top in the 200 Yard Backstroke and Evaltaite (2:24.20) and Avery Sargeant (2:26.77) took the top marks in the 200 Yard Breaststroke to give the Eagles 10 victories through 10 events.
In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Clavo (5:08.45) and Dampier (5:16.10) finished in the first two spots with Wendland following those performances up with a victory in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 57.48. Clavo (2:09.60) and Scurggs (2:12.88) finished in the top two in the 200 Yard IM, and the team of Alberti, Sutton, Cosman, and Wenham finished the day in first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:37.32, securing a perfect day for the Eagles.

STATESBORO, Ga. – North Florida women’s swimming put forth a strong effort, but fell in its penultimate dual meet of the competition season to Georgia Southern, 193-69, on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Ashley Kephart led the Ospreys, contributing to four top-five finishes on the day. Aydan Horrigan, Ashley Cozad and Kayla Daley all secured second place finishes in their respective races, as UNF completed its third meet in as many weeks.

CLIPBOARD NOTES
- The group of Daley, Sara Maschmeier, Ashley Kirby and Victoria Torres finished second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:59.87.
- Kephart notched third-place finishes in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle with times of 25.30 and 54.62, respectively.
- Horrigan swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke touching the wall in 2:09.72.
- Cozad recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.81.
- Daley tallied a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:10.12.
- The group of Torres, Kephart, Cozad and Amelia Hildebrand swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a combined time of 1:38.71.
