The UConn men have picked up another in-state addition to their recruiting class. This time, it was Charter Oak Aquatic Club’s Josh Wroblewski giving his verbal commitment to join the Huskies next fall. Wroblewski’s commitment follows those of Connecticut-based David May and Karl Bishop. He’ll be heading to UConn after graduating from Farmington High School.
Wroblewski is a NISCA All-American in the 500 free with his personal best 4:31.01 from the 2016 Connecticut Open State Championships. That time lowered his previous school record of 4:34.20 that he set when he won his first state title at the Connecticut Class L Boys State Championships.
Wroblewski had a big season in the long course pool as well, qualifying for his first Futures Championship and making his first Junior National cuts at that meet. At Futures, he placed in the top 5 of the 200 through 1500 freestyles. His highest finishes came in the 400 free, where he won silver in 4:00.23, and 800 free, where he clocked an 8:25.01 for bronze. He also swam best times with a pair of 4th place finishes in the 200 free (1:53.90) and 1500 free (16:09.81).

When he arrives at UConn, Wroblewski should give the Huskies an immediate boost in the distance freestyle races at the AAC Championships. His times in the 200 free, 500 free, and 1650 free are all fast enough to score in the B-final.
