Fresno State Women’s Swim Set To Host UOP, FPU And Santa Cruz

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State women’s swimming team will host the University of the Pacific, Fresno Pacific and UC Santa Cruz on Saturday Nov. 12 at 12 p.m. PT at the Aquatics Center. The diving team will be traveling to compete in USC’s Trojan Diving Invitational this weekend.

“I am excited about racing this weekend,” said head swim coach Jeanne Fleck. “We are racing three really good teams that will challenge us especially without our three top divers. We do have one young diver who will stay here and compete. We’ll need to be at our best to come out with a win!”

This will be the Bulldogs second meeting with UOP and FPU this season. The three teams competed in UOP’s Fall Invitational on Oct. 21. UOP (706) finished in first place at the invite, Fresno State (653) finished in third and FPU (434) finished in sixth.

This will be the first meeting between Fresno State and UC Santa Cruz this season.

Freshman Manuela Mendolicchio remains undefeated in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke this season.

Sophomore Ugne Mazutaityte remains undefeated in the 200 Breaststroke this season.

Head diving coach Taryn Patrick and three Bulldog divers will be traveling to Los Angeles to compete in the Trojan Diving Invitational Nov. 11-12. Freshman Claire Brooks will stay behind and compete for the Bulldogs on the boards at their home meet this weekend.

“This weekend should be fun,” Patrick said. “The meet is going to have some really good competition and it will be good preparation for conference. Serena and Kelli have learned new dives on platform, so I’m looking forward to see how they compete on Sunday! Shelbie has been consistent on all 3 boards, so I look for her to compete really well!”

Kelli Funk qualified for NCAA Zone Diving on the 1-meter on Oct. 29 in a home meet against Nevada and Shelbie Holden qualified for NCAA Zone Diving in both the 1-meter and 3-meter during the same meet. Freshman Serena Sedillo will be the third Bulldog diver traveling this weekend.

Competition will begin at 12 p.m. PT in the Aquatics Center and admission will be free. Fresno State students who attend the meet that live in the dorms will receive coupons for free tacos!
