Brownsburg Athletics has announced the hiring of Matt Elliott as the head coach of the Brownsburg High School girls and boys swimming team, pending BCSC School Board approval. With many years of swimming and coaching experience under his belt at the highest levels, Coach Elliott looks to continue to elevate the tradition of the Brownsburg Swim program.

“We are excited to announce Matt Elliott as our new girls and boys head swim coach,” Corporation Athletic Director Drew Tower said. “Coach Elliott has excelled at the highest levels in swimming in his prep and collegiate career and learned from some of the best coaches in the country. Matt will work relentlessly to develop our young athletes as people, implement a strong positive culture, and put them in a great position to be successful in and out of the pool.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to return to the Brownsburg community and begin working with these great student-athletes,” Elliott said. “I want to thank Mr. Tower and the rest of the BCSC administration for this opportunity and their support. I look forward to guiding our swimmers to success in and out of the pool.”

Matt Elliott attended the University of Florida where he competed on the swim team. While competing for the Florida Gators, Matt was a 10-time All-American, 2012 All-Freshman SEC honoree, 2013 SEC Champion in the 200 breaststroke, a 2-time All-SEC award honoree, and an Olympic Trials Finalist.

Matt graduated from Peoria Richwoods high school with many swimming accomplishments, including:

  • 7-time Illinois High School State Champion
  • 5-Time Junior National Champion
  • 8-Time High School All-American
  • National Age Group Record Holder
  • 2011 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Swimmer of the Year
  • 2-time Illinois Swimming Swimmer of the Year

In addition to leading the Bulldogs’ high school team, Matt will also serve as the new director of the Brownsburg Swim Club.

Matt most recently has served as the head coach at Bloomington Normal Swim Club. At BNSC Matt coached 3 Junior National Qualifiers, 2 Illinois Swimming State Champions, and several other IHSA all-state swimmers. Prior to his role at BNSC, Matt served as a varsity assistant coach and lead age group coach at Brownsburg.
