Fluidra Race Video of the Week: Jassen Yep Pulls Out Stunning 200 Breast NCAA Title

Jassen Yep wasn’t one of the pre-race favorites in the 200 breaststroke at last week’s Men’s NCAA Championships, but in the final swim of his collegiate career, Yep pulled off a massive upset to win the national title.

Yep, a fifth-year senior, set a best time of 1:49.39 in the prelims of the 200 breast, qualifying him 2nd for the ‘A’ final, with reigning short course world champion Carles Coll Marti (1:49.23) seeded 1st and the 2024 NCAA runner-up Matt Fallon (1:49.85) close behind in 3rd.

In the final, Coll Marti grabbed the early lead, turning in 51.72 at the 100, with Yep close behind in 52.00.

Fallon, known for his back-half speed, moved into 3rd by the 150 mark, while Yep assumed the lead from Coll Marti.

Coming home, Yep held Fallon at bay and pulled away from Coll Marti, finishing in a time of 1:48.30 to win his first NCAA title and knock nearly a second off his prelim PB to cap off his five-year career at Indiana.

Fallon was the runner-up in 1:48.87, while Coll Marti rounded out the top three in 1:48.89.
