Florida International University (FIU) Announces 2015-2016 Schedule

Florida International University, defending Conference USA Champions, announced their 2015-2016 schedule this past week. The Panthers will start the season out on October 3rd with a Tri Meet against North Florida and Georgia Southern. They first Conference competition will arrive at the FIU Dual-a-Palooza, where they will host Miami University (of the ACC). Also in attendance will be Florida Atlantic and Rice University; 6th and 2nd in last year’s Conference USA Championships, respectively.

The Panthers will be attending the Purdue Invitation at mid-season for the first time. Coach Randy Horner states that he has put together a schedule with an “increased level of competition to aid in our attempt to win another C-USA Championship.” In addition to adding a new Invitational, Coach Horner has also added dual meets against N.C. State, Illinois, Kansas, and Florida State. During holiday training, FIU will host the Sprint Invite, followed by a series of in and out of conference dual meets.

FIU, who  is returning 21 swimmers for the upcoming season, is looking to repeat this year at the Conference USA Championships- which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia from February 24-27, 2016. FIU is beginning it’s third season in Conference USA. In  the 2013-2014 season, FIU came second to Rice in the championships. Prior to that, they competed in the Sunbelt Conference, where they finished in third in the 2012-2013 season.
