Florida Adds Callahan, Gezmis, and Boszormenyi for 2017-18

The University of Florida Gators have added 3 new signees for the 2017-18 season: Erge Gezmis, Tate Callahan, and Bettina Boszormenyi. Callahan will be staying in state, while Gezmis and Boszormenyi are international additions to the team.

Tate Callahan

Callahan will be making the move to Gainesville from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He currently trains with North Florida Swimming, and has primarily focused on the freestyle races. At the 2016 Florida 3A State Championships this season, Callahan was a 2-time medalist, placing 2nd i nthe 50 free and 2nd in the 100 back.

  • 50 yard free- 20.76
  • 100 yard free- 45.39
  • 200 yard free- 1:38.62
  • 500 yard free- 4:25.24
  • 100 yard back- 49.12

Erge Gezmis

Gezmis is a native of Istanbul, Turkey. He’s primarily a freestyler, but he’s also got potential in the butterflies and the 200 IM. Below are his current best times in long course meters with yards conversions.

Best Times:

  • 100 meter free- 51.43 (yards conversion- 44.89)
  • 200 meter free- 1:51.19 (yards conversion- 1:37.28)
  • 400 meter free- 3:57.47 (yards conversion- 4:26.07)
  • 100 meter fly- 54.38 (yards conversion- 47.72)
  • 200 meter fly- 2:03.26 (yards conversion- 1:48.52)
  • 200 IM- 2:03.73 (yards conversion- 1:48.58)

Bettina Boszormenyi

Boszormenyi will make the move to Gainesville from Budapest, Hungary. She’s primarily a freestyler, and her converted time in the 200 free would make her an immediate scorer at the SEC Championships based on the 2017 results. Below are her current best times in long course meters with yards conversions.

Best Times:

  • 50 meter free- 26.57 (yards conversion- 23.21)
  • 100 meter free- 56.26 (yards conversion- 49.24)
  • 200 meter free- 2:00.36 (yards conversion- 1:45.54)
  • 400 meter free- 4:19.29 (yards conversion- 4:50.52)
