Engine Pick ‘Em Contest: Bueller. Bueller. Bueller Takes the Lead

The selections went much better on night 2 of the 2013 Women’s NCAA Championships, with many more favorites taking titles (Georgia in the 800 free relay, Schmitt in the 200 free, Beisel in the 400 IM, etc.).

There still were some pretty massive surprises, though, even if they weren’t headline grabbing. For example, Florida’s Ellese Zalewski was 3rd in the 100 fly; not one entry had her finishing anywhere in the top 3. Nor did anyone have 800 free relay runners-up Arizona finishing anywhere in the top 3.

But as the standings reveal (look for our FAVORITES picks that simply took the top three in every event), those who went by the numbers did well on this day. Bueller move up into the lead ahead of “swimreed,” who is one of our resident swim geeks Reed Shimberg.

The winners of our daily prizes, presented by meet-sponsors Engine, were 4AggieFans with 69 points, followed by calswim65 with 67 points, and our new overall leaders Bueller with 66 points. 4AggieFans will get a pair of Engine goggles, while calswim65 and Bueller each will get a sweet Engine cap.

As we saw from this second day, a whole lot in these standings can change each day of the meet, so there are still plenty who are in contention for the overall grand prize, which is an Engine technical racing suit.
