This morning, Stanford’s short course American record holder in the 200 IM Ella Eastin no showed the 200 freestyle. She was seeded 26th.
Later this morning, Eastin will take on her signature event, where she is seeded fourth, coming in with 2:10.35.
On Sunday, Eastin missed the final of the 400 IM by just .04, finishing ninth in the event prelims with 4:42.08.
22nd seed Lindsay Vrooman of Badger Swim Club also was a no-show in the event.
Meanwhile, 2016 American Olympic team member in the 400 IM Maya DiRado, also from Stanford, scratched the 200 free. DiRado is the top seed in the 200 IM, coming in with 2:08.99.
Melanie Margalis of Saint Petersburg seems to be the only top swimmer who is taking on the tough 200 IM/200 free double. She came up third this morning in the 200 free prelims, and she is seeded second in the 200 IM.
Are there repercussions for no showing an event? Like force scratching the following one (like they do for some age group champ meets)?
