PITTSBURGH – Duquesne swimming dominated in the pool on Saturday, winning all 16 women’s events in a three-team meet with Youngstown State and Niagara. It was also Senior Day for the Dukes.
As a team, Duquesne outscored Youngstown State 232.00-65.00 and outscored Niagara 237.00-58.00. In total, Duquesne ended the day with 469.00 points, Niagara ended with 210.00 and Youngstown State finished with 208.00.
Sophomore Haley Scholer won five different events to pace the Dukes – the 400-yard medley relay, the 200 fly, the 200 free relay, the 500 free and the 400 free relay.
Senior Sydney Sherman was right behind Scholer with wins in four events – the 400 medley relay, the 200 free relay, the 100 free and the 400 free relay.
Junior Abby Mele, junior Reagan Linkous, junior Molly Brennan, sophomore Hayley Taylor and senior Emma Menzer each won two events today.
Sophomore Orla Egan, junior Leah Reisker, freshman Kayla Johnson and senior Mara Voytek round out today’s winners as they each won one event.
Ten different seniors were also honored prior to today’s event – Madison Dickert, Kate Harkrader, Emma Menzer, Elise Mozeleski, Lauryn Ober, Sidney O’Donnell, Emily Pye, Payton Rayko, Amy Read, Sydney Sherman and Mara Voytek.

Duquesne diving travels to Buffalo next week for the Buffalo Diving Invite on Jan. 13-14 while swimming will stay home to host Buffalo on Jan. 13.

The Youngstown State men’s swimming and diving team defeated Niagara, 164-133, while the women fell to Duquesne, 232-65, and Niagara, 152-143. The Penguins hosted the diving events in the Beeghly Natatorium on Friday while the swimmers competed at the Towers Pool in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Saturday.
The men started strong on Saturday, placing first and second in the 400 medley relay. The winning squad of Dominic Bono, James Slessor, Aleksa Radenovic, and Gavin Redden swam a time of 3:27.53.
Slessor finished first in the 50 and 200 breast. His time of 26.94 in the 50 breast set a school record. He clocked a 2:09.00 in his victory in the 200 breast.
The men finished one-two-three in the 200 fly. Aleksa Radenovic led the way with a 1:57.49 to earn the victory. Karan Raju clocked a 1:59.08 to finish second while Gavin Webb swam a 1:59.16 to finish third.
Radenovic also earned a victory in the 200 IM, clocking a 1:55.96. He also placed second in the 50 back with a time of 24.21.
Webb finished first in both the 500 free and 1000 free, swimming times of 4:44.34 and 9:45.77, respectively.
Bono picked up a victory in the 200 back, clocking a 1:56.59. Brenden Reeves finished third with a time of 2:00.51.
Wilson Cannon placed second in the 100 free with a time of 48.10. Redden was just behind, clocking a 48.13 to finish third. Cannon was also third in the 50 fly, swimming a 23.61.
With a time of 10:04.95, Crispy Barton finished second in the 1000 free. Karan Raju was third in the 200 free, clocking a 1:47.07. Dominic Panozzo swam a 27.41 in the 50 breast to place third.
The men finished off Saturday’s meet with a victory in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:12.31 by Radenovic, Darren Laing, Cannon, and Redden
On Friday, Simon Iwanonkiw finished first in the men’s one-meter dive with a score of 262.15, while Zachary Lao earned the victory in the three-meter, scoring a 274.70.
For the women, freshman Miriam Frass finished second in the 500 and 1000 free, clocking times of 5:06.80 and 10:32.79, respectively. She also finished fourth in the 200 free with a time 1:59.10.
Hailey Clark placed fourth in the 1000 free with a time of 11:01.53. She also finished fifth in the 50 breast, swimming a 32.52.
Anna Kozinska clocked a 2:10.17 in the 200 back to finish fourth. She also finished fourth in the 50 back with a time of 27:58.
Aubrey Whitaker picked up a fourth-place finish in the 100 free, swimming a time of 55.53. Oliwia Kaniak swam a 32.03 to finish fourth in the 50 breast.
On Friday, Kayla Wrasman finished second in the women’s one-meter dive with a score of 264.90 and third in the three-meter with a score of 251.65

The Penguins are next in action against conference foes, heading to Rochester, Mich. to take on Horizon League members Oakland and IUPUI in a two-day clash beginning on Friday, Jan. 13.
Friday events are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., and competition will continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Oakland Aquatic Center.
