Denmark Hires Lars Green Bach as New High Performance Manager

The Danish Swimming Federation has announced Lars Green Bach as the program’s new high performance manager, effective February 1st, 2015. The 39-year old takes over the post from Mikkel von Seelen, who left at the end of December.

Bach has a long history of oaching at the club level in Denmark, having been the head coach at Swimming Club 68, Hjørring, and West Brøndby Swimming Club until 2008. In 2008, however, he took a job with Team Denmark, where he’s currently a team leader for talent and skills development.

Team Denmark is a government-funded organization designed to promote elite sports in Denmark, which is focused mostly on the Olympic arena. Through that role, he’s been an instructor in the Federation’s coach programme, and since 2011 has also been the programme functional manager for the Federation’s coach programme.

“I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to lead the Sports Department of one of Denmark’s traditional sports,” Lars Green Bach said of his appointment. “There is a fantastic foundation of sporting potential in swimming, both in the short and long-term, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with Denmark’s many passionate swimmers, coaches and leaders to realise this potential and translate it into international results.

“High performance sport is undergoing rapid development. This also applies to swimming. The challenges place great demands on all of us for a focused and unified contribution to our daily work. I believe that we, in Danish swimming, are able to further develop the strong framework for the sport of swimming that is here in Denmark.

Bach’s duties will not include regular on-deck coaching, rather he will be a manager and director for the High Performance coach and all of the others in the sports department.
