Danny Cumnock-Francois Gives Commitment to Wyoming

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Danny Cumnock-Francois, a senior from Colorado Spring, Colorado, has given his commitment to join the University of Wyoming of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The middle-distance freestyler specialist is a senior at Cheyenne Mountain High School and currently swims club for the Colorado Springs Swim Team where he joined the team after moving from Massachusetts. He will add to the pipeline and become the fourth Wyoming swimmer on roster next year from the Colorado Springs area joining Elijah Chan, Allana Clarke, and Catriona Clarke.

“I’m stoked to announce my commitment to the University of Wyoming! Big thanks to my Teammates, Coaches, Friends, and Family for helping me get to this point. Go Pokes!”

Cumnock-Francois will join WAC 2018-19 Coach of the Year Wyoming head coach Dave Denniston and his jump-start program which won the WAC Championship for the first time in school history in 2018. He will also have the luxury of some of the top distance training partners in the conference featuring Seth Borgert (WAC Champion 1650 Free) and middle distance teammates Ryan Netzel and Jacob Harlan.

Best Times (SCY):

  • 200 Freestyle: 1:42.82
  • 500 Freestyle: 4:32.74
  • 1000 Freestyle: 9:42.49
  • 1650 Freestyle: 16:27.92

Cumnock-Francois will have immediate opportunity to help Wyoming earn a second WAC title in three years. In the 500 freestyle, he would have earned a spot in the consolation finals at conference which would have given Wyoming four scorers in the top 12. In the 200 and 1650 freestyle, it gets a little bit tougher as he would be on the outside looking in. Fortunately, he is on the right trajectory earning best times in his four top events in the past year which includes earning his first Futures cut in long-course in the 200 freestyle in August.
