Caeleb Dressel, Becca Mann Lead U.S. Roster for World Junior Championships

It came two days after the self-imposed deadline to announce, but on Wednesday, USA Swimming has announced the roster for the 2013 FINA World Junior Championships.

This roster was chosen from the top eligible athletes (females born 1996-1999, and males born 1995-1998), two per event, from the combination of the World Championship Trials, the U.S. Open, and the Junior National Championships.

Among the biggest names on the roster are Becca Mann, who swam at the 2013 senior World Championships in open water on the women’s side, and Caeleb Dressel, who has destroyed the men’s National Age Group Record books in the long course sprint freestyles over the last 6 weeks.

Every name on this roster is a star, though, and expect them all to make noise in the future at least on the NCAA level, if not beyond that. Among the teams putting multiple swimmers on the roster are SwimMAC Carolina with three, Dynamo in Atlanta with three, the North Texas Nadadores with two, NCAP with two, Sarasota with two, and Mission Viejo with two.

Jason Turcotte and Paul Yetter will lead the teams, which we already knew, and their staffs will be filled out with Steve Brown from Sarasota, Adam Cooper from the Flint YMCA Falcons, John Flanagan of NCAP, Kate Lundsten from the Aquajets, Mike Laitala from Longhorn Aquatics, and Pam Swander from SwimMAC Carolina.

The meet will be hosted from August 26th-31st in Dubai, UAE.
