Nicholas Melsheimer, a senior at Carson High School in Nevada, has committed to Colorado Mesa University.

Melsheimer also swims club for the Carson Tigersharks. At the 2021 Sectionals meet in St. George, he finished 14th in the 50 free and 21st in the 100 fly. He has Futures cuts in the 100 fly (LCM and SCY) and the 50 free (LCM).

Colorado Mesa University is a Division II school and member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. If Melsheimer swam at the 2022 RMAC Championships, he would’ve made the B finals in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly.
Melsheimer joins a young butterfly and free team. Out of the 12 athletes who list butterfly as one of their strokes on the 2021-22 roster, 8 are freshmen. And out of the 20 athletes who list free or sprint free as one of their strokes, 11 are freshmen.
In the 2021-22 season, Melsheimer would’ve been the 7th-fastest 100 butterflier on the team, the 11th-fastest 100 freestyler, and the 12th-fastest 200 freestyler.
Melsheimer joins Jackson Moe and Jacob Sampson as recruits for the CMU class of 2022.
