COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State junior Brittany Aoyama has been named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while Nevada senior Krysta Palmer has earned MW Women’s Diver of the Week honors for competition from January 18-24, 2016. It is the eighth weekly award of Palmer’s career and the seventh career accolade for Aoyama.
The next Mountain West Women’s Swimmer & Diver of the Week will be announced on Tuesday, February 9.
WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
BRITTANY AOYAMA
Junior, Stockton / Linden High School
• Won two individual events and was on two victorious relay teams as Boise State defeated Denver, 156-144, on January 23.
• Won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.28 and the 100-yard freestyle in 50.28.
• Swam the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay. The team won the first swimming event of the meet with a time of 1:42.06.
• Also, swam the leadoff leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay, the last event of the meet. The team won with a time of 3:23.01 to ensure the meet victory.
WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
KRYSTA PALMER, NEVADA
Senior, Carson City, Nevada / Western Nevada College
• Placed in the top two in both diving events as Nevada went on the road to defeat Conference foe San José State, 173-120, on January 23.
• Scored a 381.01 NCAA Zone qualifying mark to win the 3-meter springboard competition, the top score in the MW so far this season.
• Earned an NCAA Zone qualifying mark of 323.83 to finish second, behind teammate Sharae Zheng, in the 1-meter event.
