A firm alarm has delayed the final night of competition at the 2025 NCAA women’s swimming and diving championships. Information will be updated as it comes in. Lifeguards have confirmed the fire alarm was pulled.
Divers were about to start round 4 of the platform event when the alarm went off.
All in attendance have been instructed to move outside. Bathrooms were evacuated as people yelled for everyone to leave.
Athletes are in their kneeskins outside. It is currently 48 degrees and there is a slight breeze. Lifeguards are walking around offering towels to any swimmers who need them.
The fire department has arrived as of 8:12 pm. All spectators and athletes are outside. Some swimmers walked outside without shoes on, including NCAA Champion Anna Peplowski who is expected to be on Indiana’s 400 free relay to close the meet.
Scenes from the NCAA championships where the fire alarm has gone off, reportedly after being pulled by a child both according to ESPN broadcasters and a lifeguard.

Fire alarm went off during the 1650 the final night of AIAW DII champs in 1981. They just continued swimming the 1650 and didn’t evacuate anybody.
I can’t make it another 20 minutes
TIME FOR BED
Gee…
I feel like I have entered ‘The Twilight Zone!’
The very first NCAA hosted in Indianapolis
(March 1983) was REPEATEDLY interrupted
in the FINAL SESSION by FALSE fire alarms.
Go figure…”history DOES repeat itself!”
will it ever come on again?
east coast ppl in the trenches rn
Such a bad look for an incredible meet
How in the world is this their fault? Are they supposed to predict the kid would pull the fire alarm? This is a safety measure and I would much rather have this delay to ensure that there is no threat to these swimmers than there potentially be an actual threat and someone gets injured.
there’s so much water in there just jump in the pool boom no threat
It ain’t a KCAC meet without a last day fire alarm, it’s just tradition at this point lol
lol this was my home pool growing up and when I saw the headline I was not surprised at all
Kinda ridiculous it takes this long if someone saw someone pull the alarm.
