Lancaster, Pennsylvania’s Franklin & Marshall College women’s swimming team received its first verbal commitment of the class of 2020 when Madison Michaels announced her intention to swim for the Diplomats via Twitter.
Michaels is a fly/back specialist from Jacksonville, Florida. She swims for Bolles School Sharks and Ponte Vedra High School. At the 2014 FHSAA Class 2A Championships last November, Michaels placed sixth in the 100 fly and 13th in the 100 back, and led off Ponte Vedra’s 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Michaels’ top times over the last two seasons include:
Event | SCY | LCM |
50 back | 27.45 | 32.69 |
100 back | 58.99 | 1:09.52 |
200 back | 2:11.69 | 2:36.17 |
100 fly | 57.67 | 1:05.97 |
200 fly | 2:12.16 | 2:27.46 |
F&M finished second to Ursinus in the 2015 Centennial Conference Championships by a mere 23.5 points. Had Michaels been a Diplomat last year, things might have been very different; her 100/200 back and 100 fly all would have made “A” finals, while her 200 fly would have been on the A/B bubble.
Go Bolles!
