Boise, Idaho’s Abbey Erwin Verbally Commits to Minnesota

Boise, Idaho’s Abbey Erwin has made a verbal commitment to swim for the University of Minnesota beginning with the 2017-18 season.

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to the University of Minnesota.  I loved everything about my visit and am excited to start the next chapter of my life as a Golden Gopher.”

A senior at Boise High School, Erwin is the three-time defending state champion and state record holder in the 200 and 500 freestyles. She has led the Braves to three consecutive team titles, and has won 11 state titles overall. She is a 2 time USA Swimming Scholastic All American and a National Merit Scholar semi-finalist.

Erwin swims year-round for Boise YMCA Swim Team, with whom she had a successful summer campaign notching best times in backstroke, breaststroke, and IM events in long course meets. Her best short course times are:

  • 200 free – 1:50.00
  • 500 free – 4:45.83
  • 1000 free – 9:45.06
  • 1650 free – 16:17.67
  • 400 IM – 4:16.45
  • 200 fly – 2:03.63

Erwin will be joined by Canada’s Mackenzie Padington in the University of Minnesota class of 2021.
