Brooke Forde is the daughter of Pat and Tricia Forde. Father Pat is a sports journalist for Yahoo Sports. Forde attends Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, KY.
Forde is a two time Speedo East Winter Junior Nationals Champion having won the 400Y IM and the 200Y Breaststroke.
2015 Fina World Junior Championships
Forde swam the 400M IM in her first meet representing the US.
2016 Junior Pan Pac Championships
Forde won gold as a member of the 4X200M Free Relay and a silver medal in the 400M IM.
Stanford
Forde was ranked the #4 recruit by SwimSwam and verbally committed to attend Stanford University.
2017-18
Forde won the 800 freestyle relay (6:46.93) at the NCAA Championships and was a three-time All-America honoree. She also finished fourth in the 400 IM (3:59.34) and 11th in the 500 freestyle (4:37.53) and placed 23rd in the 200 breast (2:09.78).
The Pac-12 Women’s Newcomer of the Year earned podium finishes in four events at the league championships. She was part of the silver medal 800 freestyle relay and earned bronze medals in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 breaststroke.
Forde was a CSCAA Scholar All-Americans and ranks among the Stanford all-time Top 10 in the 500 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 IM and 400 IM.
2018-19
Forde won the NCAA title in the 500 freestyle (pool record 4:31.45) and finished third in the 400 IM (3:59.26) and 10th in the 200 butterfly (1:53.93). She also swam the anchor leg of Stanford’s NCAA Champion 800 freestyle relay (albeit making it an 850 free relay), which set a pool record.
2019-20
At the 2020 Pac-12 Championships, Forde placed 4th in the 500 free (4:37.09), took a dominating win in the 400 IM (4:01.53, winning by over 3 seconds), and finished with a win in the 200 breast (2:07.35). She also anchored Stanford’s 3rd place 800 free relay.
2020-21
Returning to the 2021 Pac-12 Championships, Forde won the 500 free (4:37.07) and the 400 IM (4:02.57). She also pulled off a 400 IM/200 Free double, placing 3rd in the 200 free (1:44.39) just minutes after winning the 400 IM. She again swam on Stanford’s 800 free relay, which placed 2nd behind Cal.
At the NCAA Championships, Forde placed 3rd in the 500 free (4:35.22), won the 400 IM (4:01.57), and finished 13th in the 200 breast (2:07.63).
2018 U.S. National Championships
Forde was the runnerup in the 400 IM at the Phillips 66 National Championships, posting a 4:35.09. This put her on the Pan Pacific Championship team in 2018 as well as the 2019 World Championships team. She also was seventh in the 200 IM (2:12.80), finished fourth in the B final of the 200 freestyle (12th overall, 1:58.69) after posting a 1:58.53 in the prelims, and 14th overall in the 400 freestyle (4:11.93).
2018 Pan Pacific Championships (Tokyo, Japan)
In Tokyo, Forde placed 4th in the 400 IM, stopping the clock at 4:39.22. She also finished 11th in the 200 IM (2:13.41).
2019 World Championships (Gwangju, South Korea)
In Gwangju, Forde finished 9th in the 400 IM prelims (4:39.74), just missing out on the final.
2021 US Olympic Trials (Omaha, Nebraska)
Forde started Trials in her signature event, the 400 IM, where she finished 6th at 4:38.69. Her next event was the 200 free, which she opted for over the 200 IM. She placed 7th out of prelims (1:58.72) and moved up to 5th (1:57.82) out of semi-finals. In the final heat, Forde moved down to 6th even though she went another personal best (1:57.61). This ended up not mattering, as Forde’s 6th place finish qualified her for her first Olympic Games in the 4×200 free relay.
2020 Olympic Games
At her first Olympic Games, Forde swam in the heats of the 800 free relay, anchoring in 1:57.00 to help the US get a spot in the final. The team would go on to finish 2nd, netting Forde a silver medal.
