Belmonte Happy With Results in Her Return to the Pool

Spanish star Mireia Belmonte let the world know that she was very happy with her results at the Spanish Short Course Championships in a Facebook post this morning.

The following is a rough translation as the post was in Spanish:

Very happy with the results and, above all, by the sensations of this weekend at the championships in Spain. Very satisfied and grateful to my team UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia for helping me achieve my goals. Now it’s time to continue with the work with a view to the games in Rio. Let’s go!!!

This was Belmonte’s return to the pool after withdrawing from the 2015 Spanish Championships (long course) and taking her name out of the running for the 2015 World Championships in Kazan due to injury. Over the past several months she has been undergoing stem cell therapy to treat shoulder bursitis.

Belmonte did compete in an open water event on October 24th wining the 5 km event at the Catalan Fund Winter Cup.

In her return to the pool she did not hold back on her choice of events entering and winning the 400, 800 and 1500 freestyle, the 200 and 400 IM as well as the 200 butterfly.

She now ranks second in the world in the 1500 freestyle, third in the 800 freestyle, sixth in the 400 freestyle and 200 butterfly and ninth in the 400 IM.

She is a fantastic swimmer. I really hope she can be at 100% and compete for the gold medal in 200 fly. She is the main favourite if she is at her best.
Her schedule will be tough. I guess she will swim both IMs, 400 and 800 free and 200 fly plus 800 relay, so she needs to be at his peak, which won’t be easy since she suffered a serious injury last year that ruined her 2015.
I really want her to be healthy and to succeed at Ogs.

I really wish Mireia to be at 100% in Rio and if she’s at her best, the 200 fly gold medal is for her.
