Baykova, Preston Claim America East Weekly Honors

BOSTON – UMBC, New Hampshire and Vermont were action last weekend with the Wildcats picking up a win over the Catamounts.

Here are the second weekly award winners of the season

Swimmer of the Week
Liza Baykova, New Hampshire – So., Moscow Russia 

  • Won a pair of individual events and was on two winning relay teams to lead UNH to a win over Vermont Saturday.
  • Took the 50-yard freestyle (24.01) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.86)
  • Swam the fastest leg on UNH’s 400-yard freestyle relay squad that set a Swasey Pool record.

Diver of the Week
Maggie Preston, Vermont – Sr., West Hartford, Conn.

  • For the second straight week, Preston won both diving events for the Catamounts.
  • The senior claimed the 3-meter event with a score of 250.72 and took the 1-meter event with a total of 238.11.

Notes

  • UNH beat Vermont, 179-121.
  • Liza Baykova won a pair of individual events and was on two winning relay teams.
  • The Wildcats set a Swasey Pool record in 400-yard freestyle relay (3:30.64).
  • UMBC fell to Navy, 152-148.
  • Emily won three individual events, and was apart of one winning relay.
  • She set a new pool record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.56.
