MUNCIE, Ind. – Both the men and women of the Ball State University swimming team traveled to Eastern Illinois Friday night and came away with victories.

The women left no doubt, winning every single event of the night with a 210-61 advantage while the men earned a 137-125 win. This was the first dual for the men on the season while the women improved to 2-1 in duals for the year.

Both the men and women jumped out to early leads as each snagged 11 points to start the night in the 200 Medley Relay. The women’s team of Shelby Crist, Alexa McDonald, Sophie Bader and Alex Bader clocked in at 1:48.99 while the men’s squad made up of Ben Andrew, Jacob Powell, Bryce Handshoe and Owen Chaye did it in 1:36.67.

Cassidy Blackwin tacked on another nine points for the women by winning the 1000 Free (10:45.98) in the next event. Crist followed with a victory in the 200 Free (1:59.03). The next men’s win occurred in the 50 Back when Andrew touched the wall in 24.15 seconds. Apsara Sakbun won the same event by recording a time of 27.24.

Andrew also went on to win the 100 Back and 100 Breast for the men. Other individual winners on the men’s side included freshman Landyn Riester in the 100 Fly (53.86), Logan Ackley in the 100 Back (53.84) and Handshoe in the 50 Fly (23.60).

The night closed with the 400 Free Relay in which the women swept first, second and third. Anne Vormohr, Crist, Audrey Schank and Peighton Gilbert won the event for the Cardinals. The men’s team took second, third and fourth.

Ball State now returns to Muncie for its home opener Saturday afternoon against Eastern Michigan and Wabash. The meet begins at 2 p.m. ET and a recap along with final results will be posted to BallStateSports.com.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois men’s & women’s swimming teams looked to keep their home record undefeated. The men and women both went head-to-head with the Cardinals. The men lost to Ball State 125-137 and the women lost 61-201.

The men’s unit had a strong showing all throughout the meet. Scott House stays undefeated on the season as he wins the 100-free with a time of 47.59 and the 200-free with a time of 1:43.82. Greg Hample swam his way onto the All-time list here at EIU in the 1000-free with a time of 9:57.96 to put number 10.

In the 50-breast Race Archibald won with a time of 27.90, House placed first in the 50-free with a time of 21.56 while Griffen Lewis was behind him in third with a time of 21.72. In the 500-free Jarod Farrow won with a time of 4:50.56, In the 400-IM Greg Hample won with a time of 4:17.85 and Jole Talley was right behind him in second with a time of 4:21.25.

In the relays the first team for EIU won with a time of 3:09.35 and in the 200-medaly they came in second with a time of 1:37.55.

Other top three finishers for the men are, Forrest Baumgartner in the 50-back with a time of 24.63 to take second while Andrew Crouse took third with a time of 25.14. In the 100-fly Jaylen Butler place third with a time of 54.58, Andrew Crouse placed second in the 100-back with a time of 54.39. In the 100-breast Race Archibald came in second with a time of 1:01.24 and in the 50-fly Jaylen Butler placed second with a time of 23.92

On the women’s side, Ashley Glesing continues to better her times in the breaststroke as she placed second in the 100-breast with a time of 1:08.86 and placed third in 31.92, she also was a part of the 200-medley that placed third.

Other top three finishers for the women are, Jessica Harris in the 1000-free with a time of 10:55.60 and Ziv Marco was right behind her with a time of 11:14.29. In the Julia Martin placed third in the 100-fly with a time of 1:01.26 and in the 50-free Sarah Lohman placed third with a time of 25.62 she also placed third in the 100-back with a time of 1:01.84.

In the 500-free Sabrina Chu placed second with a time of 5:24.88 and Ziv Marco placed third with a time 5:29.58. Julia Martin came in third in the 50-fly with a time of 28.17 and Jessica Harris placed third in the 400-IM with a time of 4:48.45.

The EIU men’s & women’s swimming teams will return to action on the road at the House of Champions meet in Indianapolis, Ind. on November 22-24.
