AZOT Distance Freestyler Gabbie Brown Commits to UCSD

Gabbie Brown of Aliso Viejo, California has elected to stay in-stay for her college career and has made a verbal commitment to the University of California, San Diego for 2017-18.

“I recently committed to swim for UC San Diego and I could not be any happier! I’m so excited to be a triton with my future teammates-Victoria Epps and rachel taylor!” [sic]

Brown swims for Aliso Niguel High School and Aquazot Swim Club in Irvine, California. As a sophomore, she placed 8th in the 500 free and 12th in the 200 free at the 2015 CIF-Southern Section Division II Championships. Last spring at the 2016 CIF-SS Division II meet she was 9th in the 500 and 16th in the 200 IM, achieving best times in both events (5:01.25 and 2:08.26); she also led off Aliso Niguel’s 200 free relay with a PB (25.41). In long course season with the Aquazot Swim Club, Brown picked up new times at the USA Swimming Futures Championships at Stanford in the 100/200/400m free and 200m IM.

Her top SCY events are:

  • 200 free – 1:54.69
  • 500 free – 5:01.25
  • 1000 free – 10:25.43
  • 1650 free – 17:36.39
  • 200 IM – 2:08.26
  • 400 IM – 4:37.07
