The Auburn Tigers have named 6 as team captains for the 2016-2017 season, including 2 alumni of the Bolles School.
Captains:
- Kristen Murslack (senior)
- Ashley Neidigh (senior)
- Natasha Lloyd (senior)
- Kyle Darmody (senior)
- William McKinney (junior)
- Joseph Patching (senior)
The group includes 5 seniors and 1 junior, William McKinney, and 4 of the 6 swimmers qualified for last year’s NCAA Championships.
Significantly, 2 of the 6 swimmers come from the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida – which is significant because Auburn made one of the splashiest coaching additions of the offseason when they named Sergio Lopez their associate head coach. Lopez comes from Singapore, where he was the head coach of the National Team, and before that built the Bolles School into one of the greatest high school programs in the country.
Both teams are hoping to rebuild from both historic-low finishes last season at NCAAs, as well as significant outgoing transfers. The women’s team was 33rd at NCAAs – their lowest finish since 1989 – and the men’s team finished 10th – their worst showing since 1991.
