New Hampshire’s women and UMBC’s men have held on to their leads in the team standings following the 2nd day of competition. New Hampshire won 3 of the 5 women’s events, while UMBC won all 4 of the men’s events.

Liza Baykova, a senior from New Hampshire, won the women’s 50 free, breaking the meet record of 23.07, which was held by New Hampshire’s Mallory Morrell back from back in 2010. She went a huge lifetime best of 22.95, winning by  .48 seconds over runner-up Sierra Sexton.

Ilia Rattsev came incredibly close to breaking the meet record in the 50 free, which stands at 19.98 from Daniel Kempf in 2012. Rattsev went 20.01 in prelims and 20.00 in finals to fall just short of the record. Rattsev is just a sophomore however, giving 2 more seasons to break the record.

Vermont ran down Maine on the anchor leg of the women’s 200 free relay. Kira Hancock dove in for Vermont .37 seconds behind Juliana McDonald of Maine, but threw down a 22.67 to outsplit McDonald’s 23.35. Vermont finished in 1:33.37, less than a second off the meet record of 1:32.56 Hancock’s split was the only 22-point in the field.
