As expected, not one swimmer gave up their spot in a final on Sunday night in Budapest. The last session of the six-day meet will feature eleven finals, including nine individual events and two relays. We are sure to see several Championships Records go down but a few World Junior Records are in jeopardy, as well. The most likely will be in the men’s 1500 free where Franko Grgic of Croatia comes in with a seed time that is just under the meet record and only four seconds off the World Junior Record of 14:51.55 set by Australia’s Mack Horton in 2014. Grgic broke the World Junior Record, the Championships Record, and the Croatian National Record in the 800 on Thursday.
USA’s Luca Urlando has a shot at the 200 fly records. With a seed time of 1:53.84, he is capable of taking down Kristof Milak’s Championships Record of 1:53.87 and World Junior Record of 1:53.79.
Finally, Andrei Minakov of Russia could start us off with a record in the opening event, the men’s 100 free. He came into the meet seeded with 48.50 and could take down countryman Ivan Girev’s Championships Record of 48.33 in the final.
