Swimming Australia Interim Chair Chris Fydler welcomed Williams’ appointment, stating: “We are delighted to welcome Alice (Williams) to the Swimming Australia Board.”

“Alice brings extensive governance, risk management and financial expertise across multiple industries including healthcare, transport, infrastructure and the energy sectors.

“This will be invaluable as we focus on maximising the opportunity leading into the 2032 Brisbane Games and as we engage the broader ecosystem to Inspire Australia Through Swimming.

“Her breadth of experience in board roles on ASX-listed companies and her strong financial expertise including institutional funds management, capital markets funds raising and major infrastructure project management will provide significant value to Swimming Australia’s strategic direction.

Williams has a strong track record of leadership in governance and risk management. Formerly, she was a Member of the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB), Non-Executive Director of Equity Trustees Limited, Director of Port of Melbourne and Director of Victorian Funds Management Corporation, Defence Health, Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB), Telstra Sale Company Limited and AirServices Australia.

Williams has undertaken a number of advisory appointments with State and Federal Governments, including Chair of the 2004 Wheat Marketing Review Panel and Commissioner for the Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission.

The keen ocean swimmer, who has completed international swims in the Messina Strait, the Dardanelles Strait and Cinque Terre, was formerly a Director of NM Rothschild and Sons (Australia) Limited, Director of Strategy and Planning for Ansett Australia Holdings Limited and a Vice President at JP Morgan Australia.

She also held management positions with Elders Finance Group, Hong Kong Bank of Australia Limited and Citibank NA in London.

On her appointment, Williams said: “I am honoured to join the Swimming Australia Board at such an exciting time for the sport.”

“Swimming – in our pools and oceans – is so universal it has the ability to unite and inspire communities, and I look forward to contributing my experience to support the sport’s continued growth and success.”
