Akron Zip’s Hannah Raspopovich Qualifies for 2016 Olympic Trials

PITTBURGH – University of Akron senior Hannah Raspopovich (Crown Point, Ind.) qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Swimming on Saturday during the TPIT Senior Circuit.

Raspopovich finished first with a time of 26.18 in the 50 freestyle LCM.

Raspopovich will compete again next summer at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Swimming (June 26 to July 2, 2016) at the CenturyLink Center Omaha. The top two finishers will earn a spot on Team USA and participate in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Raspopovich, who will be a senior this fall, is a two-time first-team All-Mid-American honoree and two-time Academic All-MAC honoree. She earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors with a 3.767 grade-point average in nursing.

In 2014-15, Raspopovich helped the Zips to their second consecutive MAC Championship. Individually, she was a member of three MAC Championship relay teams, setting two school records and the MAC record in the 200-yard medley relay.
