Air Force’s Grant Snyder Named WWPA Player of the Week

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force sophomore Grant Snyder was named the Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week after leading the Falcons to a conference win over sixth-ranked Loyola Marymount, Jan. 31. Air Force (1-3 overall, 1-0 WWPA) split a pair of games with LMU in Los Angeles, winning the conference game, 15-13 in overtime, and falling in the non-conference game, 18-17 in overtime.

In the two games, Snyder had 11 goals, four assists, 15 points, seven drawn exclusions and five steals. Snyder also won 11 of 12 sprints. In the first game, he had five points (3-2-5) with three drawn exclusions and two steals. With 53 seconds left in the second overtime, he scored to seal the win.   In the second game, Snyder had eight goals, two assists, four drawn exclusions and three steals.

Snyder, from Springville, Calif., leads the league, and ranks second in the nation, with 14 goals in four games. He is second in the WWPA, and tied for second in the nation, with 18 points this season. He also leads the league with 15 sprints wins and his winning percentage of .789 is the best among players who have won more than five.

This is the first WWPA weekly honor for Snyder and the first by a Falcon this season. Snyder was the WWPA Freshman of the Year last season, and was named to the all-rookie team, after posting 40 goals and 57 points in 28 games.
