Air Force Swimmer Genevieve Miller to Compete at Olympic Trials

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Air Force rising senior Genevieve Miller will swim in the 2016 Olympic Trials, June 26-July 3, at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. Miller will be competing for a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.  

Miller qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 400 and 800 freestyle events at the USA Winter Nationals, back on Dec. 3-4, in Seattle, Wash. In the 800-meter free, Miller swam an 8:47.92 and placed 14th in the event.

The junior from Winston-Salem, N.C., qualified in the 400-meter free as she swam a 4:15.16 in the prelims. In the finals of the 400, Miller swam a 4:17.84 to place 15th out of 55 swimmers. She entered the event seeded 38th and improved her ranking by 23 places.

Miller was named the team’s most valuable player for the second straight year. She broke her own school and conference records in the 500 and 1650, winning both events at the Mountain West Championships for the third straight year. She earned honorable mention All-America honors in both events, becoming Air Force’s first female swimmer to ever earn Division I All-American honors.
