God if Gretchen goes to sc worlds, we could see the best performance in history. I mean yards are her calling, but then that lc world record of 55.18. I seriously think (mark my words) that she can swim a 49 100 free, a 21 high in the 50 free, a 53.6 100 fly, and maybe even a 53.4 100 back.
Idk why there’s no mini World Cup sorta thing in the US right after the Olympics, it just seems too easy.
The answer is probably, “broken swim culture” that says it’s the ONLY time you can take a break and then you gotta get back to the grindstone until the next Olympics rolls around, or something.
And also, at least the commenters saying “lifetime bans for d*pers” have an ethos that makes sense. The WADA model of “ok so you tested positive, which is a ban, but we agree it was an oopsie, so it’s less of a ban, see you in a year or two” is just silly.

I agree whole heartedly with your last paragraph. I am hard line life ban at first offence guy, but I think no testing at all would make more sense than what we are doing now.
I think the reason people watch any sporting event is because on some level it matters in the wider scheme of things, so for the Pro Swim Series I’d change it so you get points for a finishing position in an event – 5 for first, 4 for 2nd and so on, then whoever the top eight points scorers over the course of the PSS ‘regular season’ get a place in the final, the winner of the final then gets a bye into the final of the selection meet of that year (world champs or olympics).
