Day 2 At The Paris Olympics: Non-Swimming Megathread

Day 1 is complete in Paris but the excitement continues with 25 sports being contested on Sunday. Eight of those 25 sports will award medals as well.

Shooting Kicks Off The Day Again

Shooting was the first sport to award medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. China won the first gold medal of the games as Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao competed in the mixed shooting event. This morning will feature the men’s 10M air pistol final. Three hours later, the women’s 10M air pistol final will take place. China led the medal table in shooting at the 2020 Tokyo Games and have one athlete in the men’s competition and two women in the women’s competition tomorrow.

Men’s Water Polo Opens Group Competiton

There are two groups at the Olympics for men’s water polo with six teams in each. The two-time defending Olympic Champions of Serbia will begin their quest for a three-peat, looking to become the 3rd men’s water polo team to do so. They kick off competition in Group B against Japan.

Skateboarding Returns To The Olympics

Skateboarding competition begins tomorrow with the women’s street final. The sport made its Olympic debut in Tokyo three years ago and has returned for another edition of the Games.

Hey great way to end the first swimming session and it was just a total amount of fun to watch team USA take the gold. The observed comments about times and relative improvements are quite valid, But I guess everything still comes down to that 1 maxim of “get your hand on the wall first” And the USA men did it!

Bit of a quiet day for Team AUS in the pool today so I’ll have to focus on flag-bearer Jess Fox in the slalom and our young chick in the skateboarding.
