The suspense is over! USA Swimming has released the official psych sheets for the 2017 U.S. National Championships, which will serve as the nation’s selection meet for both the 2017 World Championships, 2017 Junior World Championships and 2017 World University Games.
The meet begins next Tuesday, June 17, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The meet will feature the entire individual event lineup for the World Championships, including 50s of fly, back and breast along with the men’s 800 free and women’s 1500 free.
We’ll be breaking down the key entries more as the day goes on, but for now, you can find the full psych sheets below:
2017 U.S. Nationals Psych Sheet
Bear in mind that often for these types of meets, athletes will over-enter, meaning they’ll enter into more events than they plan to swim. There will almost certainly be some scratching going on at the meet, but the psych sheets do tell us what events each athlete at least wants the option of competing in.
A few more major links for the meet:
Men’s 800 free. Smith
Women’s 1500 free. Ledecky
I was also wondering the same- Kevin Cordes???The qualifiers can still enter until June 25 with additional fee. It can be a typo error or he may register late…
Men’s 1500 free. Sweetser/Finke
Among the US juniors to watch, interesting to see if Jack Walker will have the same kind of progression in long course this summer than last December in SCY when he destroyed his 100 and 200 free PBs.
Baker opting out of both the 200 back (like last year) and the 200IM.
Olivia Bray not competing either.
I think Kathleen’s entered in both of those events (also the 100 back + 50 back). Seeded all the way down @ #70 in the 200 back –
since her entry is her 2017 Pac-12 winning time of 1:48.33, i.e. SCY… :p
Sneaky ninja seeding, lol.
Kevin Cordes is just a smoke curtain to the fact that Dean Farris is winning everything

i loved your list – very realistic overall .
Who is Carter?
Dylan Carter represents Trinidad.
I do agree with most of your predictions accept the women’s 50 free.
You’re liking King Cong, I see. Not sure he’ll go 50.9, but I do think you’re right in your placements for him.
Who is Carter for men’s 200 free? drawing a blank
Dylan Carter, swims for USC, is from Trinidad I think. Went 1:30.9 at NCAAs. So he cannot represent the USA at Worlds.
Well, oops ?
In that case my pick for 6th is Bentz, who I think will swim 1:47.12
Bentz should be on the relay …..he was on it in Rio ( saw his leg of the prelims a few days ago in 1.48… )
Good prediction but Smith is one of those ‘can’t really predict’ swimmers…Which Smith will show up? We will know the answer in a few days. One way or another I’m rooting for the guy…
Just saw Mitch D’Arrigo’s name on the psych sheet. I thought they didn’t allow international swimmers at nationals. Did something change?
We reached out USA Swimming to ask about that and will post an update once we hear back.
I don’t know if it matters, but he does have dual citizenship.
