British National Training Center coach James Gibson has left British Swimming to pursue other opportunities.
Before beginning his coaching career, James Gibson represented Great Britain in the Olympic Games and World Championships. At the 2003 World Championships, he took first place in the 50m breaststroke. Additionally, prior to serving as British NTC Coach Gibson served as a part of the French Olympic swimming program based in Marseille.
In an interview with British Swimming, Director of British Swimming National Performance Chris Spice said “We know he has enjoyed his time at British Swimming and wish him well as he looks to his future as a highly respected coach. James has done a great job as a valuable British team coach at World Championships in 2013 and 2015, with England at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and this year at the Rio Olympics for Great Britain.”
“He’s played a very positive role within British Swimming in helping move us forward. I would like to thank him for his contribution to our program and the sport as a whole.”
“It’s been an honour and a privilege to work with the athletes, coaches and everyone involved in swimming. Together as a team we achieved best ever results at all major championships which culminated with our greatest Olympic result for over 100 years,” said Gibson. “I wish British Swimming all the very best for the future as it now moves towards Tokyo 2020 and beyond.”
Where is he going?
