Drone Footage of 2016 US Open Water Nationals

USA Swimming has begun taking aerial drones to its open water 10km national championship meets in an effort to give audiences a different view of a sport that can be a challenge to watch for spectators.

Combining that drone footage with the traditional images taken off of the chase boats, USA Swimming has cut together a 6-minute highlight video from the meet. While not giving a ton of context about the race itself, the video does give many interesting and beautiful images of the event in Fort Myers, Florida.

What the heck is happening at 4:20-4:30? Looks like the kind of stuff that happens during *my* open water swims.

It is hardly a lottery. If you notice in the picture, there are four cameras recording the touches at the finish. Each touch is reviewed.

I like the drone aspect but the sport has to come up with a better idea for the finish its a lottery who touches first in close battles
