High school senior Madigan Starr has received an appointment to swim for the U.S. Air Force Academy beginning in the fall of 2021. Starr trains with Swim Atlanta and for Columbus High School in south Georgia.
Starr is a 5-time individual finalist at the Georgia 1A-5A (small school) High School State Championship meet, and is a week shy of her 4th state meet.

Primarily a backstroker, she went lifetime bests in 4 primary yards events very early this season, in October at the War Eagle Invitational, including a 56.98 in the 100 yard back. That time is almost 2 seconds better than what she went at last year’s State Championship meet.

- 100 back – 56.98*
- 200 back – 2:02.52*
- 100 fly – 57.15
- 200 fly – 2:06.42*
- 200 IM – 2:08.48*

Last season, Air Force had only 1 scorer in the women’s backstrokes at the Mountain West Conference Championship meet (which scores to 24 places) – then-sophomore Kylie Stronko, who placed 15th after adding time from prelims to finals. This season, the team is shaping up for a much-bigger performance in that event: Stronko, now a junior, is the 4th-best swimmer in the Mountain West in the 100 back so far, and the Falcons have 3 of the top 24 seeds if the championship meet were to start today.
