3x IHSA Champion Topher Stensby Verbals to Notre Dame for 2019-20

USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American Topher Stensby, from Lincolnshire, Illinois, has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team for 2019-20.

“I am extremely excited announce my verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame.  The team atmosphere is unmatched and I feel that I can excel at not only the athletic level, but also the academic.  Go Irish!”

Stensby swims for Stevenson High School and Patriot Aquatic Club in Lincolnshire, Illinois. He specializes in sprint free and is the recent Illinois High School State Champion in the 50 free and the 100 free. At last month’s 2018 IHSA Boys State Meet he won the 50 by 7/10 with 20.18 and the 100 by 6/10 with 44.57. As a sophomore he won the 50 free and was runner-up in the 100.

In club swimming Stensby just competed in the Pleasant Prairie Sectionals in Wisconsin, where he went best times in the 50m free (23.30) and the 100 free (51.11). The previous weekend he earned PBs in the 200 free, 100 back, and 100 fly at the Illinois Swimming Senior SCY Championships. At 2017 Summer Juniors he won the consolation final in the 50 free and finished 27th in the 100 free.
